April 25th, 2013

The past couple days we have all been swimming in a shark tank, a theoretical one that is! We put together a presentation of farming tools that were used out on the prairie and then presented them to a couple "sharks" that would buy, or not buy, our tool. Our group had the reaper which was a great invention that cut down grain and also bundled it. It saved so much time and labor, being a great buy. The reaper was bought by the "sharks" as well as the thresher, which was a good at saving time and labor sorting the grain. The barbed wire wasn't bought, but I wasn't surprised. It was really dangerous, especially if it rusted and one of your cows got cut on it. It could get tetanus  and then if you kill it you will just give it to your family, which would be horrible! The other invention that wasn't bought was the steel plow, it was just an improvement of the plow and still needed laborers to work it, so it wasn't really a good investment. So, that was history!
