February 28th, 2013

Unfortunately I don't know what happened in history today exactly since I was dismissed... But you still get an update! Yesterday in history we learned all about Marcus Garvey. He was a controversial African-American leader who started the UNIA and the Black Star Line. We got a packet of papers that had primary source documents and questions about those documents. So we worked on that all of class and had a bit of a discussion afterwards. So, that was history!

Well, I forgot to blog yesterday which seems to happen quite frequently. But on to history! Monday we really didn't do too much, we basically went to history for 10 minutes or so since we had the assembly. For those 10 minutes however, Mr. Boyle gave us what I would call a mini-lecture on how to be better people. Which, I can actually see why he was telling us this because some people are mean and it's not nice to be around mean people, which basically goes without saying. But yesterday we really got into real historical things through worksheets. We were split up into As and Bs to work on the work sheet and then given numbers to share our information. The worksheets were about influential African-Americans and what their view on the country and equality and all that good stuff was. The men were W.E.B. Dubois and Booker T. Washington. Other than doing those worksheets, sharing, and then having a class discussion, we didn't do anything since that was the entire class. So, that was history!

Today in history we just drew on the board. Which, was pretty fun if I do say so myself. We were recording our drawings for our Reconstruction project and tomorrow we are going to record the voice over part of it. Sadly, I've been losing my voice and may not get to talk :/. Hm. Oh well! It'll still be good! But anyways, here's my timeline, yay! So that was history!

Well... I forgot to blog! So to quickly recap, we didn't really do much! We didn't have school on Monday, and today we worked on our Reconstruction project. We drew a big sketch of our picture, which we already had done on a small scale. While it may seem very short, that was history!

February 7th, 2013

Well today in history we didn't do too too much. We started off looking at a picture of some sharecroppers and we learned all about them. On the projector-thingie we read the textbook definition then looked at a sharecropper contract and compered the two. The textbook made it seem worse and more harsh, but why would you want to make it sound bad in the contract, then the sharecroppers wouldn't want to sign. Also we went over our project that's sue next week a little bit. And that's it really, so that was history!

February 5th, 2012

In the past few days we have succeeded to take a few pages of notes and get into a heated argument over equality. Before I get to the exciting part I have to quickly say that yesterday we took some notes and that was that. Now to the good stuff. Today Mr. Boyle asked ups what the meaning of equal was, and we said that it meant to be the same. Then he proceeded to give us a piece of paper of situations of equality and how it would be applied to these situations. Some were easy but one about doctor's treatments for patients got the class all in a tizzy. It was pretty interesting to think about. We then got a court case that tested equality and also the 14th and 15th amendments and discussed it. And that was history the past few days!
